Days 62-64. The Grandchild

August 25, 2010

Ophelia was trying very hard to get into Garrett Greene’s pants…so far to no avail.  She had no idea what else she could do to get him to relent.  She’d even encouraged him to end things with what’s-her-face, his girlfriend.  Still, no matter how many times she suggested woohoo, she was turned down flat.  In a last-ditch effort, Ophelia asked if she could spend the night.  She told Einstein that she was staying the night at Arthur Jr.’s house to help out because Trish was having a tough pregnancy, and she asked Arthur Jr. to cover for her.

“I’m actually staying at a hotel, but I just had to get away from that noisy house for a night.” Ophelia had lied to Arthur Jr..  “Please don’t tell Einstein.” Arthur Jr. had agreed, but he didn’t feel good about it.

So while Ophelia was trying to make Mr. Greene give her a genetic donation, Beatrice was out sifting through piles of junk at the local junkyard.  Maybe most girls would have been scared to prowl through a junkyard at night, but not Beatrice–she didn’t have a cowardly bone in her body.  She was too wrapped up in the hunt for salvageable pieces of scrap to be scared.

While Ophelia was having her sleepover, her youngest grew into a child.  Maybe that was why she didn’t grow up quite….right.  She was adorable enough, with her father’s hair and eyes, but something in her mind was missing–the capacity to sympathize with others, perhaps, or maybe to care about what others felt.

That morning, when Ophelia tried to seduce Garrett, she was unceremoniously kicked away.  Very calmly, she got up and carefully picked up her clothes.

“When you are ready to engage in sexual relations like an adult, give me a call.” she’d said in a composed voice, then she dressed and left his house.  On her way home, she stopped in to see Rory Redd.  And he was so easy.  It took no time at all before she was in his bed and he was very willing.

Afterward, she wondered what it was that made some men eager to accept her advances while others were so difficult.  So she asked Rory, since he was right there and all.

“Well…the truth is that you’re my first, and I kinda wanted to get it out of the way.  You showed up on my doorstep and since we were both consenting and willing adults, I didn’t see the harm.” Rory explained.

“See, that’s a perfectly reasonable attitude.” Ophelia said in praise.  “Now, I’m really very tired and I must get home to my husband and children before they suspect something.  Oh that reminds me!  Please use discretion–I do not want my husband to find out about this.”

“Duh.” Rory said.  Ophelia hoped that if a child resulted from their union that it would be more articulate.  And then she realized that if a child resulted and it had Rory’s skin (which she really wanted) that she would need an explanation for Einstein.

The next day, those worrisome thoughts were pushed out of Ophelia’s head as she met her granddaughter, Ariel.  Ariel seemed to have inherited a blend of her parents’ skintones, and Ophelia was absolutely thrilled with all the new information her grandchild would be able to provide concerning genetic inheritance.

“I wonder if you’ll look like your great-grandmother?” Ophelia whispered to little Ariel.

While Ophelia was cooing over her grandbaby, she received confirmation that her romp with Rory was successful.  She would have her fifth child in a few days.

“I’d better get to work on that explanation….” Ophelia thought.

She talked to Trish for a little while before she left.  Ophelia felt that Trish and Arthur should move.  For one thing, there was no crib here for little Ariel.  For another, there were way too many people!

“You and Arthur should get your own place so that you have room to expand.  I want more of those.” Ophelia said, pointing at Ariel, who had been placed on a blanket on the floor.

“Do you really think so? It’s nice to have help caring for the baby, but it is pretty cramped here.” Trish acknowledged.  Trish promised that she and Arthur would look for a place of their own soon.

While Ophelia was exerting pressure as only a mother-in-law can, Bianca was meeting boys in the park.  She couldn’t do much with them, though, because her half-brother Arthur was there, watching to make sure the boys didn’t make any moves that were inappropriate.  Bianca was certain that if she so much as received a kiss on the cheek that Arthur would tell their mother about it.

Back at the Oftpreg home, Conrad was being laughed at by his baby sister when his block castle fell down.

“Why would you laugh about that? I worked on it for half an hour!” he said.

“Because, you worked so hard on it, and then it just crumbled!  Hilarious!” she said, chortling.

Einstein, who’d heard the exchange, wondered if there was something a bit off about his baby girl.  He resolved to keep a close eye on her.

But Conrad wasn’t that worried about being bullied by his baby sister, because it was his birthday.  He sprouted right up into a teen, and he figured that if she got out of hand he’d just sit on the little brat.  Ophelia was excited with the new features that emerged when her son aged up, and she hurried back to her room to document the emerging characteristics that she’d noted.  It hit her that she now had one adult son, three teens, a child, a baby on the way, and one grandchild.  She was neck deep in her own experiments, and yet she wanted even more information.  More points of data.  She rubbed her belly and thought about the life growing in there.

“I can’t wait to see how you turn out.” she murmured to herself.

Hooray for baby Ariel, and how funny she’s an ‘A’ too!

Oooh, genetics are mental in Ambitions. Asa’s baby with a blue lady has brown skin, and in my Daye legacy, a pink father and a blue mother produced a bright red baby… there may end up being much explaining…

Rad: I thought it was funny that she had an ‘A’ name too! :) I can’t wait to see what she looks like the older she gets…

Uh oh….I had no idea that the combinations were prone to be that strange…this should be very interesting indeed. :)

LOL, I loved how she berated Garrett for not wanting to cheat on his girlfriend. Here he’s being moral and honorable and she’s reading him the riot act because he won’t do what she wants. Poor Ophelia; some people see sleeping around on their partners as a bad thing! I’m sure Einstein would…

Can’t wait to see how she explains the new baby if he/she has red skin. I’m sure she’ll think of something.

StyxLady: Sometimes she has the worst luck with men….it took forever to get Arthur to finally sleep with her, and now Garrett! I’m not sure honor was his issue–she convinced him to break up with his girlfriend days before this incident, and he did. So technically speaking, he wouldn’t be cheating on his girlfriend, though he would be sleeping with a married woman. I guess some Sims just won’t do it, or not without some sort of help (maybe giving her “attractive” as a lifetime reward, etc.). He turned her down every time. Einstein would definitely feel betrayed if he knew what Ophelia was up to…

I’m pretty excited about this baby… :) Ophelia will definitely have an explanation worked up if she needs it.

Man! Conrad’s a looker! You can definitely tell he is Ophelia’s son. He has very similar facial features. I can’t wait to see if this baby is red or not. =]

Amyjobee: Conrad did turn out pretty handsome…he looks a lot more like Ophelia than Neal Quezada, that’s for sure. Still, some feature of Neal’s is probably hidden in the baby fat and will come out when he ages into an adult.

I’m waiting to see if that baby is red, too. ;)

    Yay for Ariel!

If Ariel hadn’t been part of this chapter, you could have called it “Romp with Rory!” It’s too funny and so Ophelia-like that she hopes the baby will be more articulate than he is. :-)

Uh-oh, Delores may turn out to be trouble!

DB: I’m excited about little Ariel! And that would have been a great chapter name! It was so funny, because I was so frustrated with Garrett, and the more frustrated I am, the fewer pictures I take. So I finally say “What gives? Is it her?” and I send her over to Rory’s house, fully expecting that she’ll be able to flirt up a storm with him, but that he won’t consent to do the deed. Lo and behold, he gives it up no problem, and I’m left with the first picture being them in bed because the whole time I was playing I was thinking “This isn’t going to work.” Oh well.

Ophelia isn’t always sure that other people are playing by her rules, so she had to make sure Rory knew not to tell anyone about their interaction. He’s not stupid, though….just not a scholar. ;)

I think Delores may turn out to be trouble indeed. I was able to roll her trait, but since I always passed over the evil trait I decided to let it stay this time.

Evil Sims are so much fun.
It’s funny how sims are sometimes, some of them can be really tempremental.
Conrad looks so much like Ophelia it’s cute.

Pinkfiend: Sometimes they’re fun, but sometimes they’re a pain…I’m too nice to most of my Sims, so I won’t let them indulge some of their meaner inclinations.

Arthur Sr. was a tough sell on Ophelia’s charms, and Garrett Greene. Ugh. What a jerk.

Conrad does look a lot like her–a male Ophelia. :)

Uh-oh, Delores is evil! I find those Sims really frustrating to play with so watching her interact with her mother and siblings should be interesting!

“Ophelia hoped that if a child resulted from their union that it would be more articulate.”

LOL, I laughed so much at that! Poor old dumb Rory!

“And then she realized that if a child resulted and it had Rory’s skin (which she really wanted) that she would need an explanation for Einstein.”

Ah, yes. I can’t wait to hear how she explains that away! If it’s even an issue. The kid could have Ophelia’s skintone, or a weird blend.

I love how Conrad turned out! He looks a lot like Ophelia to me.

Carla: Delores will be a pain sometimes, I’m sure, but she should add something pretty interesting to the mix. :)

Rory was just so easy, it had to be that he was impulsive and didn’t think things through well and perhaps that he might have been a little dumb. :)

I hope she does have to explain it away! It would be so much fun having a red baby around!

Conrad really does look a lot like Ophelia, and I’m interested to see if more of Neal’s features will come out when he grows into an adult.

LOVE that fox wallpaper! Your pictures come out so crisp and clear! I don’t know if I have the guts to do a WYD challenge! Haha.

Sundancer16: Thank you! It’s a wallpaper within the Theme patterns in the game. I’m glad the pics are coming out clear…sometimes I worry about them.

You should try a WYD challenge! It’s fun–I haven’t been able to devote as much time to it lately as I’d like, but it is a great way to become more familiar with the different options in the game (because you’re trying to keep a bunch of Sims occupied) and it’s just fun. :)
